We have a great collection of Weakness quotes, but I thought of explaining about weakness since it can mean more than one thing.

Weakness in people is usually of two kinds. The first is the medical variety, where poor health, illness, lack of nourishment, or adverse conditions can make a person physically weak. Some diseases such as muscular degeneration actually make the muscles weak. Other diseases act on other parts of the body, and the body weakens because of its inability to generate new cells and tissues. Sometimes, muscles are unable to act because of the disruption of nerve control.

The second type of weakness in a person is usually is moral or psychological. Contained within this type are what are called weaknesses in character, attitude, and will power. Most weakness quotations and weakness quotes on this page are about this second type of weakness.

Weakness may not only be limited to individuals. Even societies, civilizations, beliefs seem to have their weaknesses. Where there is strength, it is inevitable there will be some weakness. What constitutes weakness is not easy to describe. Hermann Hesse, the Swiss author, said that every culture and tradition had its own weaknesses and strengths. Most people who lived within the boundaries of their generation and culture accepted these weaknesses without complaining, but the problem arose only when another culture or tradition was superimposed on the first, leading to clash of ideas, and possibly, an awareness of weaknesses inherent in a particular system. And this is what gave rise to dissatisfaction in people.

A lot of people are of the view that weakness, and not wickedness, makes people untrustworthy, particularly in a position of power. Others believe a person’s weakness can be a strength, an asset. They just have to learn to perceive their weaknesses the right way.

This may seem like it is easier said than done, but we do need to learnt to be in complete control of our weaknesses.

We have a collection of Inspirational weakness quotes to help you learn to control and/or harness your weaknesses.
